Calista was one of over 100 dogs removed from a hoarding situation in Roy, Wa since May.
She was rescued on August 20th, but there are still more to come. Each dog on the property was flea infested, many have coccidia, mites, and this combination of parasites only hint at the other physical problems each pet was suffering from after so much neglect. The older dogs have been bred nearly to death and are suffering the physical toll of it. The younger dogs have medical issues related to pathetic breeding practices like inbreeding and merle to merle, which makes liters more likely to have auditory and visual problems. Please join us in showing her the compassion and care she deserves!
Calista = most beautiful
Her vet visit was very heartbreaking and very concerning.
She's about 8 years of age
She weighs 8 lbs with a full load of 7 puppies that are full term.
She's in poor body weight, bad patelas (rear knees especially the right), blind in the left eye and has been a host to fleas and worms. She has 2 seizures at the vet and fainted while getting her blood drawn.
She probably won't survive labor and delivery so will have to have a planned c-section in the next few days.
