Ben was brought to our cities kill shelter one week after being hit with a baseball bat by a neighbor kid of the owner. He apparently had been getting worse each day and the owner did not want to pay his medical expenses so he surrendered him to Indianapolis Animal Care and Control. He brought Ben to the shelter in a bucket.

We are a small rescue in the city and we offered to take him in. Sadly, his back was too damaged to repair. Had they gotten to it right after it happened, there may have been a chance. There are no broken bones, just a very ruptured disc.

Ben LOVES other dogs, loves to play outside, loves to chase squirrels and loves to bask and bay in the sun. He LOVES to go for walks in his wheelchair and has little trouble getting around.

He has had water therapy, swimming, acupuncture and laser therapy ? he's very good with it all. The right acupuncturist can get him to stand for few minutes. He really is a delightful dog with tons of personality. He's very smart and snuggly and would rather be challenged than pitied.

We're raising money for his care. He has a wheelchair and goes through drag bags pretty quickly. He gets acupuncture and water therapy
