Please help Cosette! She needs urgent funds for mammary surgery and liver and gallbladder test! Her values were 20 times higher than normal and she was hospitalized!

  • Breed: Terrier
  • Name: Cosette
  • Color: Black
  • Size: Small
  • Age: Adult

Cosette was found with her two siblings on an abandoned property. She was emaciated down to 4.5 pounds and had severe haematoma on her chest.

A 4 mm lump was found in her mammary gland and it was removed and sent in for biopsy. The growth came back from CSU as a grade one mammary carcinoma. Cosette had to have a second surgery done to remove more tissue and it was sent back to the lab. We are awaiting results.

The oncologist Dr Rosenberg is seeing her for additional screening, part of the screening is extensive blood work, chest x rays and a mammary check.

Cosette needs to also be seen on a weekly basis by Dr Waldman and Dr O Neil at Care for cancer preventative treatment that includes herbs and acupuncture.

Updates

  • Cosette had a new acupuncture session today at Care today and is doing overall much better. Her liver values will have to be rechecked in two weeks since they were still elevated last week. But her ALT dropped from 4000 to 400 and the ALK from 2000 to 200. Which is amazing. She is on the way to recovery and after seeing the oncologist Dr Rosenberg a week ago, she couldn't detect any further growth. Cosette will stay on home cooked food and Chinese herbs to regulate liver function and gallbladder function and will have to do bi monthly mammary checks. Please continue to support this sweet girl on her way to recovery.

  • Cosette was at the ACCESS emergency hospital last night for vomiting and loss of appetite. She got a cerneia shot and was seen by one of their specialists. Her liver and gall bladder enzymes are 40 times higher than normal. Today she was seen again for an abdominal ultrasound and chest x rays. While the liver looks normal in size and structure, the gall bladder is enlarged. She will start a seven day period of Amoxicillin and Baytryl. She also gets Cerneia tablets to prevent further vomiting and Sam e and Milk thistle to support the liver. Blood work has to be repeated in a week.

Her chest x rays were normal. The total amount was adjusted by adding in the hospital bill from last night, this morning and the lab work at Hemopet.

  • The new surgery biopsy came back benign. We are relieved that the new skin sample was not cancerous. Cosette is scheduled to see Dr Rosenberg again in a few weeks for check up and her new blood work was submitted today.
