The first time I saw Mama Dog was the shelter picture which showed her fearfully clinging to the bottom of a crate. Mama Dog was found in a field, cold, starving and covered in fleas. The picture told a story that I just couldn't get out of my mind. I watched the shelter website waiting for her to either be "found" by her owner or to become available for adoption. Weeks passed and her status never changed. Finally, I had to call.
What I found out was even more heart breaking Mama Dog (the shelter named her) wasn't clinging to the crate, she was clinging to her only surviving puppy. And even more heartbreaking was finding out that she had heart worm and would not make it out of the shelter unless a rescue could take her. My heart knew we had to save her but my mind knew she require a very committed foster home and more money than our new rescue should commit to spend.
I asked our team what they thought and without hesitation they said yes, we have to save her. A wonderful foster was found and now we need to raise the $1,500 necessary to treat her heart worm and an additional $500 to have dental work done on her infected teeth.
Please help us provide Mama Dog the lifesaving care that she so desperately needs!
