Our mission is to place unwanted, abused and abandoned German Shepherd Dogs into loving forever homes. We are dedicated to the rehabilitation of abused, injured and neglected dogs. We are also dedicated to working with the local Humane Societies to promote and educate the importance of spaying, neutering and properly vetting all dogs.
Maddie and her baby Fischer came to us in early January. Fischer was one week old when they arrived and Maddie was not able to feed him because she was not producing any milk. Our foster and her family bottle fed him around the clock to make sure he would grow and be healthy. We estimated Maddie to be about 1 1/2 - 2 years old.
Sweet Maddie was spayed, and during that time we found out that her uterus had ruptured long before coming to us. She is very lucky to be alive. Dr. Melco said he could tell from looking at her uterus that she could have possibly had at least one more puppy, but because of the rupture and infection the puppy did not survive. We are very thankful for Fischer, her one surviving puppy! We also had learned during that time that Maddie also needed an FHO on her left side due to severe hip dysplasia. Once she was healed and healthy from her spay surgery, we went ahead and scheduled her hip surgery.
Our sweet Maddie had her FHO surgery on March 1st on her left side. This starts the beginning of her new life. Her baby Fischer was adopted the very same day, and now it's Maddie's turn to get everything she needs and find her forever home once she is healed. HUGE thank you to her foster mom and family for taking such great care of this special girl! Prayers for a speedy recovery Maddie!
Yesterday Maddie had a bath to get ready for her first therapy appointment with Dr. Heidi at Inver Grove Heights today. Her foster mom said she was a rock star and even got to do the underwater treadmill today!
