Almost Home-NO KILL Shelter
Almost Home is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) no-kill organization dedicated to finding loving, forever homes for unwanted, homeless animals. We are strongly against the senseless act of euthanasia. We are a small group of dedicated volunteers who are passionate about keeping Almost Home operating. Our haven radiates warmth, love, and compassion to all animals; young, old, sick, healthy, maimed or beautiful. Our haven is a place for animals to feel safe and be safe.
Almost Home believes every animal can be adoptable. It just takes time, patience and money. Because we rely solely on donations and volunteers, your help literally means the difference between the life and death of a sweet, homeless animal. We have not let any animal down yet, and we don't intend to. THAT IS WHO WE ARE! And without our incredible supporters we couldn't continue our No-Kill mission.
Vetting and health care for an extremely abused, over bred Mama
Miley is a senior Mama who birthed her last litter at 13 years old. Her body is run down and in a lot of pain, she needs a lot of medical attention to become healthy and adoptable.
Miley is the face of cruelty, pain, and torture. She is a part of Stormy's family that was confiscated from a slithering hot garage, chained up, deprived of love and affection. She is 13 years old and was being bred over and over until she could no longer stand up.
Pictured with Miley are two of her puppies that were also saved, the youngest 8 months old. We don't know where all of the other puppies ended up, but we heard that they were sold. Miley was bred so rapidly, there was never a time in her life that she was not pregnant and having puppies. Her body is beyond tired and she is so grateful to be in a warm bed at Almost Home-no kill Shelter.
We took Miley to our local vet, and the vet was mortified to see the condition she was in. Even more so when we told them that Miley recently had puppies at 13 years old. The vet said being pregnant at her age was extremely dangerous to her health and her puppies. The Vet said that her ears were terribly infected, a mammary tumor was found, she is emaciated, has worn down teeth, and very arthritic.
Miley's Mate was a Male named Stormy. He was abused and tortured so badly and is currently in the Emergency Vet Hospital. We currently have 5 of Miley, and Stormy's puppies, three males and two females. The Animal warden was able to convince the owner to sign over three of my boys. We are currently working on their Vet care and finding the males a forever home. We are terrified for the two girls and Miley, because the owner wants the girls back. We are working hard with the Animal Warden to get custody of Miley and her two girls.
Please Note: Miley, Margo, and Maya can only go into foster homes until the cruelty case is over, providing that we win the case. Our precious Stormy is still in the emergency hospital, but we are taking applications for a permanent home for him. Morris, Micka, and Morton are available immediately, and need to go to separate homes.

HUGE THANK YOU to our kind supporters who donated soft beds to our dogs!!! Kim and her daughter wanted to make sure our animals are as comfortable as possible while waiting for their Furever homes! Here they are visiting with Miley, who is a cruelty case of breeding abuse. She is a super sweet, senior girl who has continuously been used for breeding, to the point where her body is badly deformed and worn out. We will make sure Miley is enveloped in comfort, love, and gentleness as she learns to be spoiled and pampered from now on in life!!! Thank you so much for your support and donations to help us give Miley and the others the best life they can have!!! They soooo deserve it!

A very generous volunteer went to visit Miley the other day and this is what she had to say :
"I just spent the afternoon with this precious girl, as a volunteer. She is such a gentle and sweet dog!!! Her sad, lifeless, eyes show her years of abuse but her temperament is that of an angel. Please help her get a fresh start. She is so deserving!!!!"
Every Donation counts. Please consider helping Miley get the care that she needs, so that she can spend the rest of her life receiving love.
