7/11 UPDATE: 5 month old Sophie is home! Poor Sophie has had a lot of trauma to her bladder, so she is peeing blood and taking a lot of medication. She is looking at about a month to fully heal but will have a follow up appointment in two weeks. Her foster mom says she is her happy little self. Please consider donating to Sophie's care.

7/9 UPDATE: Sophie's surgery is complete! The surgeon took her Ureters and made new openings for them in her bladder where they belong. Her bladder was really angry right after the surgery and she had a catheter in to help rest the bladder for healing.

Sophie's catheter has since been removed, and she's doing great! There has been no leaking urine, and she has been going potty normally!! Because of the location of the incisions, there's a great risk for infection. Sophie should be able to go home today, but her Foster Mom will continue to monitor her very closely.

BHNW is still in need of funds to cover the cost of 5-month-old Sophie's procedure and aftercare. Please consider making a donation; we cannot do what we do for deserving dogs like 5-month-old Sophie without the generosity of our supporters.

7/4 UPDATE: 5-month-old Sophie is in need of immediate surgery to address her Bilateral Ectopic Ureters, which has been causing the urine drip and subsequent scalding to her vagina. The cost of this surgery and aftercare in addition to the cost to cover diagnostic testing bring the total of funds needed to help Sophie up to $7500.

Sophie is experiencing significant pain due to a chronic and blood-tinged urinary drip. Bulldog Haven Northwest (BHNW) is in need of funds for her CT scan and follow-up care.

5-month-old Sophie was surrendered to BHNW at just 4-months-old due to chronic urinary dripping with fresh blood in it. The constant drip has created a very painful scalding on her skin. Due to this scalding she screams when she goes potty. Butt Paste (diaper rash cream) only helps so much. Ultrasound has shown no abnormality in her urinary tract, but since she was born with a bum eye the Internal Medicine Vet suspects bad plumbing also. Sophie is going to have a CT Scan to see if we can see something the ultrasound didn't show us. Sophie is a very sweet loving little girl that is in some pretty serious discomfort.

We are doing our very best to get sweet Sophie healthy so she can have a happy future with a loving family. But Sophie is just one of 30+ dogs currently in our care and we are in need of donations. Your donation to BHNW is tax deductible, and may be eligible for a company match from your employer. Please connect with your corporate giving team to verify that BHNW is on their list of charitable organizations, and if we're not, please ask them to add us.

BHNW's ability to help bulldogs in need is dependent upon the generosity of the public and your donations. We cannot do what we do without you. Any funds that are raised and are not needed specifically for Sophie's care will be used for other dogs like her.

Thank you for supporting BHNW.

5-month-old Sophie's CT scan showed that she has Bilateral Ectopic Ureters. Essentially this means the tubes that come out of the kidneys that are supposed to connect with the bladder don't; they connect with her urethra instead. Poor Sophie has no storage capacity for her urine, which is why she suffers from constantly dripping urine, which causes scalding on her vagina.

Now that we know the cause of Sophie's pain and discomfort, we also know that immediate surgery is needed to correct her condition. Bulldog Haven is in need of donations to cover the cost of Sophie's surgery and post-op care, as well as the diagnostic testing needed to determine her issue.

Please consider making a donation to help. No amount is too small. <3

Thank you!
