Poor sweet boy Ziggy was dumped at Miami-Dade County Animal Services, one of the highest kill shelters in the nation, found as a stray. He was living and surviving on the streets of Miami only to be caught, dumped and almost euthanized.  Once we saw his face, we couldn't let that happen, he stole our hearts and we rescued him.  Upon vetting him we found out that he has some real issues going on.  Ziggy has a large inguinal hernia, multiple perineal hernias and severe colitis which causes Ziggy to have bloody diarrhea and is extremely painful to our sweet boy. We're trying to have him gain some weight as well, although that's been challenging due to his colitis.  On top of his painful hernias, his X-rays showed bowel gas, retained feces in part of his colon and abnormal protein and kidney levels.  Please help us help Ziggy!  He has a great spirit and he is sweet as can be. He has a long road of recovery ahead but with your help we can make his pain-free dreams come true!

PLEASE SHARE ZIGGY'S STORY & HELP BY DONATING!  Diagnostic bills keep coming & we need funds for all of it, especially his special diet and his much needed surgeries.

  • Ziggy has made it through surgery and is resting at his foster home tonight.

The surgeon was able to do the L perineal hernia but did not see the inguinal hernia today, therefore this repair was not done. Ziggy also had neuter today. We will see how he recovers and proceed with the next perineal surgery in a month along with the inguinal hernia, if it is seen at that time. The surgeon also noticed some breathing issues when Ziggy was coming out of anesthesia. This will be looked into as well. Our poor boy has been through enough. Let's hope he recovers quickly and painlessly.

Thank you for your donations and prayers, you all have made this possible!
