is now

To better serve our animal-loving community as we move into the future, we plan to expand our offering. And in the process, we thought a name change was in order is now

"Cuddly" is how we feel about animals and it's how animals make us feel. That being said, while there are many upcoming changes, our mission remains the same. We aim to help animals around the world live better lives through innovation, community, and kindness. Thank you for being a part of our movement and, now, the family.

Please Help Boss Swagger and Special Needs Bulldog Rescues!

  • Breed: Bulldog
  • Name: Please Help Boss Swagger's Pneumonia and Bulldog Rescues!

Please help Road Dogs & Rescue continue to transform lives!

Right now we are dealing with four dogs fighting nasty Upper Respiratory Infections, Shimmy the old Chi, Winnie the old Frenchie, Molly Myrtle and our Special Needs Frenchie puppy, Boss Swagger. As if having a cleft palate and hydrocephalus aren't enough to deal with!

Our focus is bulldogs and Special Needs, so we recently took in poor senior boy, Wylie, who had a horrendous malignant testicular tumor removed - and our newest member is cleftie pup Earl Treble Grey, surrendered by his breeder at just one day old! He will need to be tube fed for the next month to ensure he gets the right nutrients and limit the risk of aspiration.

We currently have 33 dogs - ranging from Wylie and Earl, to long-term foster Monty, who has hydrocephalus.   In general, ones with the health issues are the most expensive.  Monty costs $300 a month in meds,  Tabitha, the Neo mastiff just had a $900 eye,  surgery, and we just paid around $4k in vet bills.  Right now, we also have FOUR dogs with 'attitude' issues that are with specialized behavioral trainers. This will cost us around $1500  PER DOG.  Yes, it's a huge amount but I feel it's our responsibility to make them as adoptable as possible.  I've heard of dogs being stuck away in kennel boarding for MONTHS, even years because no foster or forever home can be found!   We owe it to our rescues not to let that happen.

Road Dogs & Rescue is based in Los Angeles but YOU, our supporters come from all over the country - and the world - because you believe in our message of 'Every life deserves a chance' and our mission of spreading compassion.

We are a small rescue with a big heart so please help us reach this fundraising goal.  We need you!

Thank you so much for caring.

  • Boss Swagger has had his cleft palate repair is doing well. Check out the before/after pics!  Thank you again to everyone who supported him through his fight with pneumonia. He is one amazing little puppy!

  • Apologies for the delay in updating, I was out of the country!  Boss is doing well.  He recovered from the pneumonia and they inserted a Peg feeding tube to bypass his palate to stop the risk of further aspiration. He is now ready for the surgery to fix his palate which will be done next week so please send lots of love and prayers for it to go smoothly.

Once again thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting this amazing little dude!

  • The little Boss Swagger is so over being in hospital!

This is the longest I've ever needed to keep a dog in an oxygen chamber! Thankfully, he is now out but breathing still needs to get stronger before we can do peg surgery.

Please show your support for Swags by donating if you can. Special Needs puppies are way more expensive to care for than ordinary dogs and we can only do it with your support! Our goal is to not only save lives but transform them.

  • Thank you so much again to everyone who has donated! Boss Swagger continues to fight. Xrays show some improvement in his lungs so please keep the good thoughts and prayers coming.

I've decided to end the fundraiser here so please continue to follow Road Dogs on IG @roadogs.

  • Boss Swagger needs all your love, prayers, and healing thoughts right now.

He is still eating but X-rays show his lungs to be worse. He is getting a nastrogastric tube to bypass the cleft and ensure no new aspiration while hospitalized.

He is fighting so let's fight with him and get this boy healthy so he can go home.

Obviously this is costing a fortune. If you'd like to help, please donate.

  • And the moral of this dayglo green stitches story is - don't go to Tijuana for an eye job.

Her previous owner did it to save money and poor Mirabelle now needs to see an eye specialist because they botched it. And she needs her other eye done.

Bloody hell, those vet bills just keep coming!

Please consider making a donation to help.

  • Ugh. Poor Boss Swagger came down with pneumonia and is in the hospital - on IV fluids and oxygen.  Please send him lots of healing thoughts and love.  These cleftie pups are so fragile in that they can aspirate so easily. But I know his spirit is strong and he will fight like a Frenchie!

Pleas continue to share and donate if you can.

  • Boss Swagger is feeling better and thanks everyone for the support!  Please continue to share and donate if you can so that we can reach our fundraising goal!

  • Aside from medical bills, rescue is also about doing what is needed for a dog's psychological health. Bacchus was in cheap kennel boarding for a month as we tried but failed to find a new foster. I couldn't leave him there any more as every dog deserves to run and play.

Cage free is not cheap (and neither is the 10 cups of food he eats a day!) but it is what Bacchus needs until we can find him another foster - or ideally - a fantastic forever home.

  • Meet our latest Road Dog - Rooster aka Roo!  Just five weeks old, he was surrendered because he has a cleft palate and we will get him surgery when he is older.

Thank you for your support of this fundraiser, please continue to share so that we can continue to say Yes to Special Needs Pups.

  • Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Please continue to share as we have a long way to go!  Boss Swagger is doing a little better - his cough has lessened, thank goodness.  We still have Winnie and Molly at the vet though. And I am in England with terrible wifi access!
