Edna was found as a stray on the cross country running course for the Jones High School track team on Friday, October 6th. She was brought to Tornado Alley Bulldog Rescue on Saturday and immediately rushed to the emergency vet. She weighed in at only 28.4 pounds! Her red blood cell count and her white blood cell count were far below normal. Her platelets were 18. The low side of normal is 148. She could start bleeding from her gums at any moment and once started it could not be stopped. She was diagnosed with Ehrlicia, hook worms, whip worms, severe anemia, and she was flea infested.

TABR made the decision to treat with a blood transfusion, a costly procedure, but one that increased her chances of survival by 33%. Please help us give Edna a 2nd chance.

Updates

  • Edna has received her 2nd antibiotic shot for the tick borne illness.  She has put all her weight back on and is still eating several times a day.  She will have blood work done after the 21st to confirm stable levels and then we will schedule her palate surgery and spay.
