Colt's needs were neglected for years. He has been suffering from skin pain, masses growing painfully on his chest, matted hair and completely calcified ears that cause him to constantly be in pain. If you could imagine your whole body hurting and no one doing anything to help you, that would be Colt's life as he knew it.
Colt can not have his surgery until we can afford his surgery. We are in Desperate need of help for Colt.
Colt is a 7 year old, male, American Cocker Spaniel that was left at a shelter when his owner could no longer care for his needs. They were not met while he lived there, and we are not sure if it was sheer negligence and care or if the owner just did not have the capability of understanding ear cleaning and proper diet for a cocker spaniel. Needless to say his ears are calcified with all of the scarring from his ears not being cleaned and cared for properly.
Colt's masses have already been removed (non cancer) and now we want to tackle those ears with what is known as a Double TECA (Total Ear Canal Ablation). Colt is in chronic pain, has pus, and an intensive cleaning regimen that consumes his life right now. Colt is as sweet as can be and he gets along great with his fur-sibling and is very well mannered. He definitely deserves a life without the chronic ear pain, and lots of love to be given to him.
We have called 5 Veterinarian Schools at Universities around the Midwest and the prices quoted range from $2700-4000 for one ear and $3600-5700 for both. Right now we have a Emergency and Specialty Clinic in Indianapolis that is $5000 best educated estimate with a 20% discount for our 501C3 standing. This includes preliminary exam and consultation, CT scans of ears, surgery, medications and a 2 week follow up appointment. They would keep Colt on Tuesday afternoon after consult and board him with surgery the following day, and recovery with pickup on Friday. 50% of his cost of surgery must be paid at consult and the final balance due at pick up. We want to get him scheduled in before winter begins in the Midwest.
Please consider donating toward Colt's medical needs, he can not have his surgery and be relieved of his pain until we can afford to cover his Surgery cost.
