The acts of cruelty people inflict on our fur friends creates everlasting trauma leaving them confused, and broken hearted. Let's come together to give these innocent baby kittens a second chance.
We are a new rescue, although not new to rescue. Our founder has worked in rescue for over 7 years. She started as a foster for dogs, then wanted to help more local animals, so was recruited by a local rescue as their adoption, and foster director. She did that for about 5 years and had to step down a year ago due to health issues. After 8 months she was ready to get back into it, but the rescue she was working with last had changed their direction. So she, and her daughters started Broken Hearts Rescue and opened in March of this year. We specialize in pets who have experienced extreme trauma, need medical help, special needs, seniors, bottle babies, unsocialized... the ones most rescues won't take.
This is Chirp she was the mother of 7 kittens, Chirp was put in a drop box at an eastern Idaho shelter. She was very pregnant, but also severely emaciated so they contacted us as we try to pull all their pregnant kitties otherwise they get euthanized. While we were arranging transport she gave birth. She was just getting over Feline panleukopenia. (a highly contagious viral disease of cats caused by the feline parvovirus. The feline parvovirus infects and kills cells that are rapidly growing and dividing, such as those in the bone marrow, intestines, and the developing fetus. Kittens are most severely affected by the virus.) We did not know, and she was still a carrier so when her babies were old enough she taught them to use the litter box. Her amazing mothering skills had unforeseen consequences. Her kittens got the virus, and sadly it killed all but two. Even with multiple vets visits we were unable to save them, these angels died at 4 weeks old.
Help us save these fur-angels they don't deserve to die before they've had a chance to live.
