Emergency Intake

  • Breed: Bulldog
  • Name: Lulu
  • Color: Brindle
  • Size: Medium
  • Sex: Female
  • Age: Young

Attack wounds are covering Lulu's neck and chest. Emergency surgery needed to clean and close the wounds.

Raised in a puppy mill without loving attention or proper training, the quality of Lulu's life was extremely poor. Lulu's owner had bred her 5 times; on the 6th artificial insemination, they perforated her uterus which forced them to do an emergency spay. At that point, the breeder no longer had any use for her and decided to sell her right away.

Lulu was sold to a loving couple, but as they were first time bulldog owners, they didn't understand what they were getting themselves into. Dogs bred in puppy mills are not socialized with other dogs, which introduces challenges for the dogs and their future owners. This case, unfortunately, was no exception. Lulu's new family tried to do everything right. Lulu was vaccinated, fed nutritious foods and was showered with love. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to fix the lack of socialization.

Lulu attacked the family's golden retriever on three different occasions and lost all three times. This last fight caused Lulu severe injuries, and her family decided that Lulu would need more help than they could provide. Knowing that a loving rescue would give her the best shot at receiving the care and training that she so desperately needed, they decided to call Tornado Alley Bulldog Rescue (TABR) for help.

TABR has stepped up to help Lulu get the medical care and treatment she needs. But we are asking for your support in this endeavor. Please consider donating to her campaign or buying a product from her wishlist to aid in her recovery; she needs saline eye drops, a new cozy bed, and blanket, amongst other items.

Lulu is only 3 1/2 years old and she deserves to find her happily ever after.

No donation is ever too small and we are so thankful for your ongoing support.

Updates

  • She's still just nibbling on food. However, she is starting to show a little personality at her foster home and this girl has a lot to share. She is smart and sassy! We can't wait till she's feeling better so we can get to know the real Lulu.

Her wounds are starting to heal so now she's getting her first sponge bath, hoping that some warm water helps her feel better. She's very sweet and could care less about you washing her down to look pretty and get all the blood off.

  • Lulu is working on recovering. Not too much of an appetite yet and a lot of drainage on the large neck wound but she's very sweet with people.

The Golden had her down by the throat and shook her. The tissue damage is all very deep and the inner muscle is traumatized. He has to take it slow and work inch by inch or she will start bleeding and go into shock. He opened up two holes on either side of that massive swelling so the area can start draining and he has her on massive antibiotics to stave off any infection since her wounds are open. She will get to remain in her foster home for another night or two then she has to go back to have the swelling drained again.
