Puppy Nat is only four months old and has one of the most severe injuries we've ever seen. She was hit by a car, causing her femur bone to protrude out of her skin and a huge rip in her stomach.

Nat was found in a temple here in Prachuap Khiri Khan, a province south of Bangkok. In this area, many stray, local dogs find shelter within the temples. Unfortunately, visitors of the temple often drive at racing speeds throughout the grounds hitting and killing many of the dogs who live there. We found Nat hiding under a stairway severely injured and terrified. Although she had every reason not to trust humans, she wagged her tail when she saw her rescuers and accepted their help. They immediately took her to their vet, but he did not have the equipment to repair her. The closest vet that could help her was over an hour away, so they rushed her there to get the care she needed.

Blood tests show that Nat already has a progressed infection at her injury site that will have to be assessed and treated accordingly. If the vet cannot operate and put a steel pin in her leg for repair, they will have no choice but to amputate her leg. She will stay at the vet so they can hospitalize her and keep her stable. We will update you as we learn more.

Please consider helping little Nat with a donation or gift from her wishlist registry to help in her healing and recovery. Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Updates

  • Little Nat was such a brave puppy after her horrendous accident leaving her femur bone protruding through her back leg.

Now she's home with us and is a very happy puppy. I bought a soft bed for her cos she spent 2 weeks in a steel cage with steel bars to sleep on at the vet's clinic. She had a steel pin put in her leg. It must have been so painful for her but she never complained. She just sat in the corner looking miserable.

Nat loves company but we're trying to keep her as still as possible. Her leg is very weak and if she uses it too much infection will set in. Thank you to everyone who's supported little Nat through her painful ordeal.

We still need help in getting Nat back to normal with a strong back leg. Please continue to support her by donating an item from her Wishlist! She needs lots of good food, vitamins and calcium.

  • We are happy to report that Nat is responding well to the treatment for her broken femur bone. She's now having laser treatment which I believe will help her heal more quickly. The infection in her broken bone is under control and is no longer causing concern.

Poor little Nat is missing her siblings and we hope to bring her to our Centre asap where she'll be recovering for several months. Thank you for your donations and continued support!!

  • Little Nat has had her operation to put a steel pin in her broken leg! We are happy to report that she has regained consciousness and is eating. That's a brilliant outcome but there's a long way to go. Nat will stay in the vet's clinic until early next week when we'll collect her. If she has a setback due to the high infection she had before the operation she will remain an inpatient longer.

Poor little Nat had suffered so much pain before we rushed her 100ks to the vet. And her operation has given her more pain to contend with.

Your support to help little Nat is greatly valued. We'll have more updates soon. Thank you so much!
