Stomped puppy with broken leg needs YOU!

  • Breed: Pit Bull Terrier
  • Name: Jaelyn
  • Color: Brindle
  • Size: Medium
  • Sex: Female
  • Age: Young

This young puppy was found in a box after someone stomped her leg, shattering her bones.

Jaelyn is a sweet natured six-month-old girl that was found in the middle of nowhere laying in this box. A nice woman noticed her and took her to the Palmdale shelter. Unfortunately for Jaelyn, she didn't have much chance of getting out of the shelter with her current situation.

Mutt Hut Rescue stepped up and pulled her from the shelter before she was euthanized. They wanted to get her the medical treatment that she desperately needed. Upon inspection, the vet told relayed that because of the nature, shape, and result of the injury, it was likely that a human stomped on her.

Mutt Hut decided to name this pup Jaelyn because it means young fighter and survivor, which is exactly what she is! Mutt Hut is currently waiting on estimates for her surgery, but this kind of procedure is always pricey. She will also have to spend 6-8 weeks in foster care while she heals. Jaelyn has a long road ahead of her, but no human will ever hurt her again and she will be forever loved!

Updates

  • Jaelyn's surgery was successful and she is currently in recovery and cage rest. She is walking on her own, which is great.. but she is only allowed to do this to go potty until she has healed more. She is just a puppy and doesn't understand why she can't play with the other pups. She has been in confinement for 10 weeks now and we feel terrible that she cannot run around and play. But she will heal the fastest this way. Thankfully, she loves her alligator toy and playing with him really helps pass the time!

  • We are so sad to update you that our little sweet Jaelyn has unfortunately broken her leg again.

At this time, we really need our Mutt Hut families prayers and good thoughts for miss Jaelyn. With this unfortunate and unexpected injury, we are looking at yet another hefty vet bill.  Her surgery for Monday is $1800+ dollars. Not including medications, follow up x-rays and office visits.

We are heart broken for our little girl. She was so close to healing from her initial break. Because the break was so unexpected, and Jaelyn was only very slowly and carefully walking, we decided to request a Full Blood Panel to rule out any sort of underlying cause, which could have resulted in her breaking her leg again. We will keep you updated as things go along and we thank you all for your continued love and support!

  • Jaelyn and Mutt Hut are overwhelmed by the love and support she has received. We were able to save her leg! She is starting to walk on it and use it like a normal leg! Monday 5-7-18 she has her 2 week post op check up to make sure things are healing like they are supposed to! FINGERS CROSSED!
