A thank you story from Louise to our amazing donors
It was a beautiful northwest day and one of our volunteers went to pick up Louise from one of our wonderful community shelters, the Kitsap Humane Society. Shelters often turn to BHNW when they have a dog who needs more care than they can provide and has an extended recovery period. Sweet Louise was going to a foster home in the Seattle area and needed to cross the sound on the ferry. As our volunteer walked her up the ramp to the ferry, Louise was a little hesitant and in true bulldog fashion, firmly planted her feet. A kind gentleman, Ron, stopped to ask if the volunteer needed help. He quickly noticed what poor condition she was in.
Louise found her way to the shelter as a stray. She is extremely emaciated, anemic, has open sores, poor dental health, dry eye, and clearly, has had many litters. Despite what must have been a terrible life for her, she has the sweetest, most gentle demeanor. When Ron heard her story on the ramp that day, he immediately reached into his wallet and pulled out a generous cash donation to go towards her care and rehabilitation. Louise immediately took to Ron and climbed up on the seat beside him during the ferry ride. At the end of the ride, he helped our volunteer carry her down the stairs at the dock and loaded her into the foster's car. Ron was smitten with her and we know you will be too.
We want to thank all our donors for their generosity. We cannot provide care for dogs like Louise without the kind souls, like Ron, who generously donate. Louise has a significant recovery period ahead of her. Stay tuned for future updates on this amazing little lady.
