A Letter To You

A Letter To You

To Our Wonderful poundWISHES Community,

We had a pawsome first month of the year at poundWISHES. At the start of the year, we adopted the word "transformation" for 2018, which is meaningful to us on many levels. First, it defines our mission: we aim to transform the lives of rescue animals all over the world -- from sick to healthy and from sad to happy. Second, as an organization, we're constantly thinking about how we can improve and get better. We want to "transform" and optimize in small ways so that we most efficiently and effectively help the rescue, shelter, and sanctuary community, as well as all of the animals in their care. The more we can help them, the more animals can be served and saved. And third, we want to transform the way that animal lovers give to animals. On our platform, we want to enable you, people who are passionate about animals, to give in the most transparent way. That's why we created our registry feature, which now allows you to give to animals by buying the products they need, in addition to the monetary gifts necessary for medical care, transport, and training. In light of this mission to transform the rescue world in our own way, I'd love to share what you've helped us accomplish in just one month: January 2018.

January has been nothing short of amazing when it comes to making a difference. Together, with our team, rescue partners, and wonderful donors, we have left a paw print in many rescue pets' lives. And through the weeks, we continue to be inspired by stories of animals' courage and will to survive.

During this past month we have been successful in helping over 200 pets start their road to recovery and raising over $90,000 in donations through poundWISHES and our generous donor community. One of the rescue dogs on our site, Boo, is the perfect example of overcoming a horrible situation. Boo was one of our Weekly Wishes. She was found alone, hungry, and with a gaping hole in the side of her leg. Thankfully, ACTion Programs for Animals, with the help of poundWISHES, was able to get Boo the medical treatment she needed for her wounds. The veterinarian suspected the holes likely came from a larger dog biting her. While they thought they would possibly have to amputate her leg, due to infection, Boo shocked everyone and was able to recover. Boo still needs $400 to meet her goal amount, but she's well on her way and we're happy to be a part of her journey. (If you'd like to support Boo, please visit her campaign page HERE)

This month, we had 12 pets fund over 100%, and collectively we raised over $13,000 for them. We're excited to see how much more good we can do next month on this front.

Another exciting area of focus for poundWISHES has been the expansion into our wishlist registries. As I alluded to earlier, this feature transforms giving by allowing animal lovers to give back to rescue pets in a new way. You can now choose to give through monetary support for medical assistance or product purchases of much-needed items like beds, food, medication, toys, and treats, helping animals recover and live a happier, healthier life. Just this month, poundWISHES was able to start over 120 wishlist registries, ensuring that rescue animals are getting products exclusively chosen for them. From across the nation, our rescues and shelters have shared pictures of their pets with their new products. Check out all of our wishlists registries HERE.

January was also a time of getting to know our community. We partnered with local yoga studio Yogalution and pressed juice company Suja to put on our Barks on the Bluff yoga event. On the bluffs in Long Beach, CA, yoga and animal lovers came together for a good cause. We had hundreds of yogis and their furry friends partaking in an inspiring yoga session guided by our teacher Dharma. Proceeds went to the poundWISHES Foundation, which gives weekly grants to urgent-needs cases.

We are beyond grateful for being able to work together with our community and be a voice for hundreds of rescue animals. If you are a company and want to partner with poundWISHES for an event in the future, we'd love to hear from you. Contact:

If you're an animal lover and live in the LA area, we have a poundWISHES Foundation Valentine's Day event "Doggie Coffee Date" in collaboration with Dog Cafe LA on February 11th, 5-7pm. Come out, hang out with some wonderful animals, and support rescue.

All year long, poundWISHES strives to be a voice for those who do not have one. Our mission is to help improve the lives of animals everywhere through innovation, creativity, and community. Hence, poundWISHES will continue to be inspired by and committed to urgent-needs animals around the world. With each month, we aim to raise the bar for helping more rescue pets than ever before! We thank you for your amazing support; without it, we would not be able to continue the work we do.If you're looking for a way to give back and be involved in a more consistent way, please consider joining the wishpack. The wishpack program is for those animal lovers who want to commit to supporting urgent-needs animals monthly. This program supports our weekly wish, disaster funds, and emergency grants.
